Side Effects of Champix

The Side Effects of Champix vary from patient to patient. But here is a list of the possible side effects:

Very Common Side Effects of Champix affecting more than 1 person in 10.
  • Headache, Sleeping Difficulties, Strange Dreams
  • Nausea
Common Side Effects of Champix affecting more than 1 person in 100.
  • Increased appetite, changes in the way things taste and a dry mouth.
  • Sleepiness, triedness, dizziness.
  • Vomiting, constipation, diarrhoea, fleeing bloated, stomach discomfort, indigestion and flatulence.
Uncommon Side Effects of Champix affecting more than 1 person in 1000.
  • Chest infection, discomfort or pain, inflammationof the sinuses.
  • Fever, feeling cold,feeling weak or unwell, viral infection, shortness of breath, cough, throat pain or irritaion, runny nose, snoring.
  • Loss of appetite, feeling thirsty, increased weight.
  • Feeling of panic, difficulty thinking, mood swings.
  • Co-ordination difficulty, difficulty with speech, less sensitive to touch, increased muscle tension, restlessness.
  • Heart rhythm disturbances, increased blood pressure, increased heart rate.
  • Disturbed vision, eye pain, dilated pupils, sensitve to light.
  • Ringing in the ears.
  • Blood in vomit, irritated stomachand heartburn, abdominal pain.
  • Skin rash, cyst, fungal infections,itching, increased sweating.
  • Stiff joints, muscle spasms
  • Glucose in urine
  • Increased menstrual flow, changes in sex drive or ability.
There have been some reports of heart attack, hallucinations changes in thinking or behaviour, depression and suicidal thoughts with people trying to quit smoking with Champix. There have also been reports of serious allergic reaction to Champix e.g swelling of the face, mouth or throat and skin reactions also Stevens-Johnson syndrome which is the blistering of the skin mouth and around the eyes or genitals.

You should stop taking Champix immediately if you develop swelling of the face mouthor throat, or if your skin starts to peel or blister.

If you develop mood swings or changes in behaviour, suicidal thoughts or depressed mood you should stop taking Champix and consult your doctor immeadiately.

If you notice any other side effects notify your doctor immeadiately.
