Varenicline an ingredient in Chantix/Champix The Stop Smoking Tablet. |
Once after your quit day you are not recommended to smoke so this is where Champix steps in and reduces the enjoyment that you can get from a cigarette, to be honest it makes me feel rather nauseous.
So we sort of know what is going to happen when taking Champix or do we as Champix or Chantix as it is know in the USA can contribute to depression, suicidal behaviour and even suicidal attempts, although this is probably in the most of extreme circumstances and there could be an underlying medical issue from patient to patient. I'm taking this myself I feel fine and great at the thought that I'm finally giving up smoking with no suicidal thoughts or tendancies nor any signs of depression.
All in all it will vary from person to person as to what it can do if you are in any doubt consult your doctor, or if you are taking this drug and you get any side effects from it you should stop taking this drug and consult your doctor immediately.
How does Varenicline contribute to smoking cessation? Well it basically attaches itself to one of the receptors in our brain namely the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor, what that is I couldn't tell you I have no idea, anyhow it basically sticks to the receptors in the brain and blocks the nicotine getting to these receptors therefore tricking the the brain into thinking that it has had it fix of nicotine when in actual fact it hasn't.
If you do some research into Varenicline you'll notice the word placebo, in short a sham, its almost like a physcological drug, if you think it will help you it will in a physcological manner but if you think that it can cause you harm then it can cause you harm again in a physcological manner, this is more commonly know as the Placebo effect.
The most common side effect of Varenicline is Nausea, the less common side effects of Varenicline are headaches, sleeping difficulties and strange dreams. The rarer side effects are that of flatulence, change in taste and vomiting.
